Keeping your teeth and gums healthy for life
Our goal is to have you and your family be healthy for life. The best way to achieve this? Through regular exams and cleanings for the whole family!
Our San Diego dental cleaning & exams are crucial for helping to prevent tooth decay and gum disease, as well as catching small dental problems before they become big ones. We recommend that most patients come in to see us two times a year for cleaning to stay at their healthiest! For patients with periodontal disease, we often recommend 3-4 cleanings per year as part of your treatment.

We first brought our 3-year-old son for dental care and were so impressed by their patience and attentiveness that my husband and I scheduled our own appointments before leaving. Every visit, we’re greeted warmly and feel truly welcome. Everyone, from general dentistry to ortho, has been wonderful—professional, honest, and thorough in explaining treatments without pushing unnecessary services. I highly recommend this office to anyone seeking quality dental care!

We are so happy with our dental care here. It’s wonderful to find a place that accepts and understands all types of children. My son even told me he prefers San Diego Dental Specialists over his previous dentist! We’ll be back, and we definitely recommend them.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get a dental cleaning?
We recommend having a dental cleaning every 6 months. However, the frequency may vary depending on your oral health condition. We’ll assess your needs and provide a personalized cleaning schedule.
Why should I get a dental exam?
Regular dental exams are essential for the early detection and prevention of dental problems. They help identify issues like tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and infections before they worsen. Prioritizing dental exams promotes oral health and overall well-being!
Are dental cleanings painful?
No, we use gentle techniques to ensure your comfort throughout the cleaning process. If you have any concerns or dental sensitivity, please let our team know, and we’ll take extra care to ensure a comfortable experience.
What are the benefits of regular dental cleanings?
- Remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Freshen your breath
- Brighten your smile
- Contribute to overall oral health maintenance
Do I still need a dental cleaning if I brush and floss regularly?
Yes, even with diligent oral hygiene practices at home, professional dental cleanings are essential. Some areas of the mouth can be challenging to clean thoroughly with regular brushing and flossing alone. Dental cleanings reach those areas, remove hard-to-reach plaque and tartar, and help maintain optimal oral health.
Is dental cleaning covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans cover dental cleanings. However, coverage may vary depending on your specific insurance policy. Our team will assist you in understanding your insurance coverage and maximizing your benefits.
