Our sedation dentistry treatment options
After discussing your concerns and reviewing your child’s needs, our San Diego sedation dentist will recommend the form of sedation that is appropriate for your child. We offer:
- NNitrous oxide: Also known as laughing gas, this option will keep your child awake and alert. Best if your child just needs some help calming nerves while treated.
- NOral conscious sedation: Taken in pill form, this option is similar to laughing gas and will help your child feel calm and relaxed, while still staying awake.
- NIV sedation: A middle ground between general anesthesia and laughing gas. Many patients report feeling like they are in a dream state throughout treatment and don’t remember the procedure.
- NGeneral anesthesia (at Children’s Hospital): Your child will be placed under closely monitored unconsciousness. This option must be completed at the Children’s Hospital.
